Home Made Tomato Basil Sauce

By making your own pasta sauce, you avoid purchasing all those ready made jars lined up on the supermarket shelves which in most cases are filled with additives and preservatives, to prolong shelf life, and heaps of sugar. This Home Made Tomato Basil Sauce is quick and easy to make.

Tomato Basil Sauce

Makes about 1 liter

Ingredients
Olive oil, as needed
2 onions, cut finely diced
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 kilo of fresh tomatoes or 4 cans of peeled tomatoes
10 leaves of fresh basil

Instructions
1. In medium skillet, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until onions are translucent.
2. Add the tomatoes and basil over medium-low heat and cook for 30 – 40 minutes or until tomatoes are soft. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Puree in a blender and keep warm.
